“Wise men often change their minds, fools never.”
Just remember that the goal of equality should be to gain the trust and respect of the opposition. We should not try to beat their opinions down, or we’re just like them. Everyone should be able to express their own opinions, as long as those opinions don’t actively oppress or deny other people rights. Just because someone voices their different-from-yours point of view (yes, even those who believe sexuality is a choice or that we should all be communists) doesn’t mean you have the right to try to convert them to your opinion.
We should try to only work towards one mutual goal; that everyone has equal rights and are treated fairly and equally. Other than that everyone should believe whatever they want. From Democrat, to Agnostic, to Buddhist to Marxist to Jewish, and gay and bi and furry, we should all be able to be and think whatever we want; we can’t claim to be for equality and at the same time tell people “No your opinion of things is wrong.” We have to accept that asking for equality means giving it as well, and I don’t really think it’s that hard of a thing to accept.
